Our Speaker

Mr. Vinay
Mechanical Engineer

Instrainee Education Foundation

Profile of Speaker

Mr. Vinay is a dedicated Mechanical Engineer at Instrainee Education Foundation, known for his practical expertise and strong focus on applied engineering. He emphasizes experiential learning and has the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for effective student understanding.

With an approachable personality and encouraging teaching approach, he creates a supportive learning environment that promotes curiosity and confidence among students. Mr. Vinay remains committed to guiding learners, enhancing their technical skills, and equipping them for professional success in the field of mechanical engineering.

OBJECTIVE

  • To provide students with a foundational understanding of widely used Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools in the field of mechanical engineering, enabling them to recognize the role of digital design technologies in modern engineering workflows and product development.
  • To build fundamental skills in both 2D drafting and 3D modeling using industry-standard software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks, allowing students to create, modify, and interpret technical drawings and solid models with accuracy and confidence.
  • To strengthen students’ comprehension of engineering drawing principles and assembly concepts, including the ability to visualize components, understand part relationships, interpret dimensions and tolerances, and develop complete assemblies that reflect real-world mechanical systems.

REPORT IN BRIEF

The CAD Essentials – Mechanical Engineering workshop was successfully conducted on 27 March 2026 at the Skill Book Skill Development Centre, bringing together 24 trainees from the DMM (Draughtsman Mechanical) trade of ITI Nizamuddin.

The three-hour workshop, offered free of cost, was designed to provide participants with practical exposure to industry-relevant Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools. The training program emphasized hands-on learning, enabling students to actively engage with the software rather than relying solely on theoretical instruction.

During the session, students were introduced to key functionalities of AutoCAD and SolidWorks. The curriculum covered essential topics such as 2D drafting techniques, creation of isometric views, fundamentals of 3D modeling, and the development of basic mechanical assemblies. Participants gained valuable insights into how these tools are applied in real-world engineering design and manufacturing processes.

The workshop was conducted by Vinay, a Mechanical Engineer, who guided the students through practical exercises and demonstrations. His interactive teaching approach encouraged students to ask questions, experiment with design features, and build confidence in using CAD software effectively.

Overall, the workshop proved to be an enriching learning experience, equipping students with foundational design skills and enhancing their readiness for careers in the mechanical engineering and manufacturing sectors.

CONCLUSION

The CAD Essentials – Mechanical Engineering workshop concluded successfully, leaving a strong impact on the participating students from ITI Nizamuddin. Conducted at the Skill Book Skill Development Centre, the session effectively met its objective of introducing learners to essential CAD tools and practical design methodologies.

Through focused, hands-on training in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, students were able to develop a foundational understanding of 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and basic assembly concepts. The interactive nature of the workshop, combined with real-time demonstrations, enabled participants to build confidence in applying these skills to real-world mechanical engineering tasks.

The guidance provided by Vinay ensured that complex topics were delivered in a clear and practical manner, making the learning experience both engaging and effective.

Overall, the workshop proved to be a valuable initiative in bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry-oriented skills. It not only enhanced students’ technical competencies but also motivated them to further explore CAD tools as a vital component of their future careers in mechanical engineering and design.

FUTURE RECOMMENDATIONS

Future workshops can be improved by extending the duration for deeper learning of AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and by including real-world projects and hands-on assignments. Adding assessments or mini-projects will help evaluate student understanding. Providing post-workshop resources and organizing advanced sessions in collaboration with ITI Nizamuddin can further enhance learning outcomes.
